England have won the second Twenty20 international against Australia by 27 runs to ensure that the two-game series ended as a draw.

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first, but their decision backfired when England's openers put on a stand of 111 before Michael Lumb was caught for 43.

Luke Wright came in for a quickfire 30 before being dismissed, while Alex Hales fell agonisingly short of a century when he was caught by David Warner on 94.

Jos Buttler (0) and Eoin Morgan (20) both gave away their wickets in the final over as England ended the innings on 195-5.

Australia's response got off to a poor start when Aaron Finch and Shane Watson went for five and seven respectively, but they soon steadied the ship to reach 82-2.

Shaun Marsh was then bowled by Joe Root before England claimed the wicket of the dangers Warner, who went back to the pavilion having made an impressive 54.

The wickets began to tumble late on as Australia desperately tried to up their run rate to the required level, but they were unable to do so and finished on 168-9, giving England the 27-run victory.
