Stuart Broad overtakes Sir Ian Botham as England's second all-time leading Test wicket-taker as the hosts seal victory against West Indies in three days at Edgbaston.

England have defeated West Indies by an innings and 209 runs at Edgbaston in the inaugural day-night Test to be held in the United Kingdom.

The hosts took a further 19 wickets during day three to seal the comfortable victory, with Stuart Broad impressing to move above Sir Ian Botham as England's second all-time leading Test wicket-taker.

Looking to build on an overnight score of 44-1, the West Indies could only reach 168 in their first innings and just 137 in their second in reply to their opponents' 514-8.

James Anderson took three of the first-innings wickets - Carlos Brathwaite, Shai Hope and Roston Chase each falling to the 'King of the Swerve' - while Broad ended with identical 3-34 figures in the second to overtake Botham.

The second Test in the three-match series begins at Headingley on Friday.
