Rishabh Pant's game-changing century has earned India a five-wicket victory over England, securing a 2-1 win in the three-match one-day series.

The momentum was with England after their success in the second international, but Pant majestically took the contest away from the home side at a time when they had appeared well on course for the win.

After winning the toss, India wasted no time in making inroads down the England batting order, Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root both being removed for ducks by the end of the second over.

Mohammed Siraj took both wickets, but England's counter-attack restored parity as Jason Roy, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler each put together knocks that felt imperative at the time.

Roy made 41 runs from just 31 deliveries, Stoke posted 27 runs from 29 balls and Buttler added an assured 60 from 80 to help stabilise the innings.

However, all three wickets were taken by Hardik Pandya, the pace bowler eventually ending with figures of 4-24 after also dismissing Liam Livingstone for 27.

Moeen Ali (34) and Craig Overton (32) helped England set a target of 260, although Buttler's side were bowled out with 25 balls of their allotted 50 overs still remaining.

Such was England's start to India's innings that it could have ultimately been deemed irrelevant, Reece Topley taking three quick wickets to reduce the away side to 38-3.

That soon became 72-4 after 16.2 overs - England now very much in the ascendancy - but Pant and Hardik proceeded to put on a sublime 133 for the fifth wicket.

The Latter contributed 71 off 55 balls before departing to the bowling of Brydon Carse, although by this stage, the hard work had been done with India well inside the required run-rate with wickets to spare.

The fact that Pant finished unbeaten was fitting given the level of his showing, the wicket-keeper contributing 16 fours and two maximums on his way to 125 from 113 deliveries.

Although India were not as dominant as sealing victory with 47 balls to spare would suggest, they are deserving winners of the series, adding to their previous triumph in the T20 games. body check tags ::
