England captain Alastair Cook makes his first Test century in two years as the team reach 240-7 at stumps on day one of the third match against the West Indies.

Alastair Cook has scored his first Test century since May 2013 to lead England to a score of 240-7 at stumps on day one of the third Test against the West Indies in Barbados.

Resuming on 151-4 after tea, the captain and Moeen Ali continued to add the runs until Cook called for a quick run, but the all-rounder did not have time to make it, resulting in him being run out for 58.

Ben Stokes joined the opener at the crease in a bid to help the skipper reach three figures before the close of play, but a loose shot allowed Shai Hope to take a catch at gully, giving Shannon Gabriel his second wicket of the day.

With just a couple of overs remaining in the day, Cook pulled the ball away to the boundary for four, bringing up the 26th Test century of his career.

Cook will not return tomorrow morning though, as Marlon Samuels dismissed the captain in the final scheduled over, with the centurion edging the ball back into the hands of Denesh Ramdin.
