England have reached 285-8 at tea on the final day of the second Test in Dubai, still needing 206 runs to defeat Pakistan with just two wickets in hand.
Their hopes of salvaging the game have taken a further blow in the afternoon session, with two wickets falling.
Having reached 187-6 at lunch in reply to Pakistan's total of 490, England lost the wicket of Ben Stokes for 13 in the third over of the afternoon as he nicked an Imran Khan delivery to slip, where Misbah-ul-Haq took the catch.
Adil Rashid and Stuart Broad took England beyond 200 and then built a solid partnership of 60 which steered the side past the 250-mark, with Rashid in particular impressing with the bat. However, Wahab Riaz dismissed Broad for 30 with an inswinging yorker to leave England eight down.
Mark Wood joined Rashid in the middle and they continued to add runs at a steady rate, with Rashid reaching 47 not out before tea, while Wood notched 17 runs off 31 balls.
The pair will continue after tea with England needing to bat through to the close of play to avoid defeat.
