England trail Pakistan by just 68 runs at stumps on day one of the second Test at Headingley after earlier bowling the tourists out for just 174.

England have dominated the opening day of the second Test with Pakistan, with the tourists having already been bowled out for 174.

Joe Root's team went into the contest on the back of a heavy defeat at Lord's and without all-rounder Ben Stokes, but the home side controlled each of the opening three sessions at Headingley.

Despite losing the toss, England powered through Pakistan's batting lineup with each of Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Chris Woakes picking up three wickets apiece while debutant Sam Curran took the final wicket.

Shadab Khan top-scored for Pakistan with 56, but England openers soon set about taking advantage of a barely-used pitch by putting on a stand of 53 before Keaton Jennings was out for 29.

Alastair Cook added 46 before getting out cheaply just before the close of play but with Root contributing an unbeaten 29, England made 106-2 to trail Pakistan by just 68 runs.
