Yasir Shah takes five wickets on day two of the first Test between England and Pakistan to put the tourists in control.

A five-wicket haul from Yasir Shah has put Pakistan in control of the first Test against England at Lord's.

Day two began with the tourists still at the crease, but they were only able to add 29 to their overnight total, finishing on 339 all out.

England got off to a good start in their chase, with Alastair Cook leading the way as the hosts appeared to be cruising at 118-1.

Cook became the first Englishman to score 4,000 runs as captain in the process, but by the time he was eventually dismissed for 81, bowled by Mohammad Amir on his return to Test cricket after a spot-fixing ban, Pakistan had turned the game on its head.

Shah did the main damage, taking the wicket of Joe Root with the new number three just two runs short of a half-century and going on to tear through the middle order as England lost five wickets for just 75 runs.

Chris Woakes, who himself got a five-for with the ball, steadied the ship somewhat and ended the day on 31 not out alongside Stuart Broad (11*).

England went in at the end of day two on 253-7, still trailing their visitors by 86 runs.
