UNICEF UK ambassador Lord David Puttnam has revealed that Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will have a "special" role in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow tonight.
UNICEF is one of the partners involved in this summer's Games, and Tendulkar, who became the programme's Global Goodwill Ambassador last year, is poised to play a part in the event's curtain-raiser.
However, despite refusing to divulge the exact details of the 41-year-old's involvement, Puttnam says that "something special" awaits.
"There will be something special from Tendulkar, wait and watch," Puttnam told reporters.
"Tendulkar is a Global Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and he is happily involved with the work of the organisation."
The opening ceremony gets underway tonight at 8pm.
