India thump Australia by an innings and 135 runs to take a 2-0 lead in their Test series.

India have battered Australia by an innings and 135 runs to take their series lead to 2-0 in Hyderabad.

The tourists resumed day four of the Test on 74-2 but were all out for 135 before lunch in a spell that saw them lose seven wickets for just 23 runs, becoming the first team to lose by an innings after declaring in their first innings in the process.

Ravichandran Ashwin recorded a a five-wicket haul for the hosts, while Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets.

Ed Cowan (44) registered the only notable score with the bat for Australia after Shane Watson (9) had been removed just three overs into the day.

Captain Michael Clarke was then bowled out by Jadeja for 16 runs before the tourists collapsed at the crease.

The win marked MS Dhoni's 22nd Test win who is now the most successful Test captain for India, after surpassing Sourav Ganguly's record.
