India take five wickets in the final session of day two against South Africa to seize control of the first Test match in Johannesburg.

India have taken five wickets in the final session on day two to hold a slender advantage over South Africa in the first Test match in Johannesburg.

South Africa looked in control after beginning the final two hours of play on 118-1, but Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami shared four wickets to reduce the hosts to 213-6 at the close of play.

India lost five wickets for 25 runs as their innings came to an abrupt end for 280, and an half-century from Graeme Smith got the home team's innings off to a promising start before tea.

However, with the score on 130, South Africa lost three wickets for no runs as India ran rampant in Johannesburg, and Shami struck twice in quick succession to reduce the hosts to 146-6.

Vernon Philander and Faf du Plessis put an an unbeaten 67-run partnership before the close of play, but India will be delighted with their efforts ahead of day three.
