India have some work to do after they lost three wickets in the morning session of the first Test against South Africa in Mohali.
Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane managed to keep India afloat by reaching lunch on 82-3.
Prior to the interval, the Proteas struck in the second over of the day when Shikhar Dhawan edged it straight to Hashim Amla at first slip off the bowling of Vernon Philander.
After Dhawan left the field for a duck, Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara managed to steady the innings until Dean Elgar nabbed the second wicket of the day.
Pujara was dismissed for lbw after hitting 31 runs off 66 balls, and he was shortly followed back to the pavilion by captain Virat Kohli (1), who was caught at cover off Kagiso Rabada.
Vijay (40*) and Rahane (3*) will return for the afternoon session.
