Kent Spitfires have crashed out of the NatWest T20 Blast at the quarter-final stage after failing to overcome Lancashire Lightning.
After losing the toss, the Spitfires got off to the worst possible start with their batting, slumping to 86-7 before a late flurry from James Tredwell guided them to 142.
A 62 from Ashwell Prince and Ashes star Joss Buttler's 53 from 37 balls proved to be the difference in reply, despite some robust field work from Kent, which took the match to the final over with the visitors in need of six to win.
Matt Coles took two wickets with as many balls and Kent were left needing five to win off the final two balls, and then three from the final delivery.
However, James Faulkner struck the final ball away, beating the throw to complete two runs with Arron Lilley and secure a tie after 20 overs.
The visitors progressed to the semi-finals by virtue of having fewer wickets fall during their 20 overs.
