All-rounder Andrew Flintoff has admitted that he never thought he would get the opportunity to play for Lancashire again after retiring from cricket in 2010.
A knee injury forced Flintoff to end his professional career, but after spending several months training with the club, they have agreed a short-term deal with him to feature in the upcoming T20 Blast.
The 36-year-old told Lancashire's official website: "I'm really honoured to be part of Lancashire once again. It is something that I never thought would happen but after training with the squad over the last few months, I am really happy that they have invited me to play.
"I have worked really hard to get back to my fittest and I hope that we have a successful summer. I'm just glad that I can be part of it."
Flintoff has previously played 16 T20 matches for Lancashire, averaging 29.64 with the bat and just below 14 with the ball.
