Brendon McCullum has paid tribute to Daniel Vettori following the off-spinner's match-winning spell in the World Cup victory over Afghanistan in Napier.
Vettori claimed 4-18 in the six-wicket win to pass 300 wickets in one-day international cricket, and McCullum was keen to reveal his delight with the veteran's form after the game.
"The guys bowled really well and obviously Dan was the standout performer," the Black Caps captain told reporters.
"He is a special cricketer for what he has achieved in all three formats of the game over two decades. To see him achieve another milestone is fantastic."
Vettori has taken 12 wickets in five matches at this year's tournament.
