Live text coverage of the final day's play of the fifth Test between New Zealand and England.

New Zealand started day five of the third Test on the brink of a series victory after reducing England to 90-4 at the close of play on day four.

Wickets fell at regular intervals in Auckland as the tourists fought to salvage an unlikely draw.

Kane Williamson finished with four wickets as the Black Caps closed in on a win with less than an hour of play remaining.

However, New Zealand were frustrated by a defiant century from Matt Prior (110*) as England battled their way to 315-9 to avoid defeat.

Read how the drama unfolded on the final day of the series below.

Hello to everyone. We've seen almost everything over the last few days. Superb batting, fierce bowling and some strange shots, mostly from England. It was supposed to be flat pitch but at the beginning of the fifth day, New Zealand know they need six more wickets for a series victory.
England fans shouldn't lose hope just yet. However, it will take a big performance from the remaining batsmen if the tourists are to claim an unlikely draw. Ian Bell currently has eight runs from 89 balls and England need more of that type of batting if they are to survive.
Joe Root will join Bell at the crease in Auckland. It's a lot of pressure on such a young man but we've seen that the Yorkshire ace has the mental attributes to shine at this level. However, one or two wickets in the first session and New Zealand will feel victory is inevitable.
England cannot complain about being in the position they find themselves in today. New Zealand have dominated throughout this Test and in truth, deserve a victory. A draw for England will feel like a win after such a difficult few days with both bat and ball.
England's batting coach Graham Gooch believes the tourists have the quality to save the game. He told BBC Sport: "I'm not giving any excuses because we have been outplayed, but we still have a chance to salvage something."
The New Zealand team have just had a photo on the outfield, with all of the backroom staff involved in the shot. Tempting fate or just an innocent picture? We're less than five minutes away from play.
All of the players are out of the dressing rooms. Root has taken his guard an he's ready to begin. Kane Williamson will continue his over from yesterday evening.
Root begins the day by taking two runs behind square on the leg-side. Williamson responds with two dot balls before Root adds a couple more through square-leg. Root makes it six from the over with two more through the off-side.
Bell lunges forward to Southee and is fortunate not to chop the ball onto his own stumps. A single through cover means that he'll keep the strike for the next over. Surprisingly, Williamson will continue.

Bell has plenty of company around the bat, with McCullum placing six fielders close to the stumps. The right-handed batsman relieves a bit of pressure with a cut shot for four, bringing up England's century in the process. Steady start from England.
Southee's accuracy has been something to be admired in this game and that shows how much he has improved as a bowler. There's no swing for the seamer though and Root easily negotiates a maiden.
McCullum is continuing with Williamson but there doesn't seem to be much in it for the bowler who took two crucial wickets late on yesterday. Bell remains watchful throughout the over and it's another maiden.
Root is doing the right thing by attempting to be positive. Southee drops his length and the youngster is quick to pull the ball over mid-wicket for four runs. Southee responds with a few dot balls. It's still a very good pitch out there in Auckland.
There is a bowling change but it's still spin as Bruce Martin comes on to replace Williamson. Martin is very full throughout the over but a lack of movement means Bell can block out a maiden. Plenty of England supporters inside the stadium again.
Southee is frequently changing his position on the crease but Root is equal to the threat and picks up a couple of runs past point. The bowler responds with a short ball that Root easily avoids. Root looking very comfortable in the early stages.
Despite the nature of the situation, Bell won't let Martin get away with a half-tracker and earns two with a powerful cut through cover. A second cut shot earns the batsman two more runs. Martin is trying to tempt Bell into a false shot on leg-stump but Bell isn't biting, yet.
Williamson is back into the attack already, replacing Southee. The part-timer is too full outside off stump and Root collects a couple of runs through point. Root then sneaks a single to cover before Bell adds another to the same area.
Boult is into the attack for the first time today. The way England play him will be key to their chances today. Bell gets a thick inside edge on the ball while defending but he survives. Boult produces a beauty at the end of the over, beating the outside edge of the bat. Great start from Boult, it's a maiden.
Root gets off strike early in Martin's over with a single through mid-wicket. McCullum places two fielders in Bell's eye-line at cover and short mid-off but the batsman isn't fooled.
Nervous about the result? Want to 'Cash in your bet'? See how with William Hill.
Boult is accurate once again throughout the over, forcing Root to use his full range of defensive strokes. The batsman thinks twice about flirting with a ball outside off stump and just avoids edging the ball towards the slips.
Martin gives the ball plenty of flight and catches a thick edge off Bell's bat but the batsman is safe. Southee does brilliantly at backward point before ruining his good work by missing the next shot to gift four runs to Bell.
Root rushes a single at the beginning of Boult's new over. Bell stays on the back foot to the pace man, blocking the next five deliveries. 76 overs to go for England.
It's not the best of overs from Martin but Root can't punish the spinner until the fifth ball, when he rocks back to punch four runs through extra cover.
Wagner is thrown the ball to begin his first spell of the day and he has four slips in place for support. Bell pushes the third ball of the over behind point for a single and Root adds another to cover. One hour down without a wicket falling for England. New Zealand need a breakthrough. Time for a drinks break.
McCullum may need something special from one of his bowlers to break this partnership because Root and Bell have looked very comfortable so far. 11 overs before the second new ball arrives.
Martin breezes through a maiden over following the break. Plenty of encouragement for the bowler around the bat but Bell looks assured once again.
Wagner is slightly shorter in his new over, allowing Root to flick the ball of his hip for a single. The left-arm seamer goes slightly wider on the crease for Bell but he can't force the batsman into a drive.
Much better from Martin, who's in a nice rhythm now. Root uses his feet to open up the off-side but picks out the fielder at cover. A full toss invites an attacking shot from Root but he hits the helmet of the fielder at short leg. Maiden over.
Wagner's patience is impressive. The seamer is persisting with a wider line but Bell is yet to throw his bat at the ball outside off stump. A shorter ball surprises Bell but he dodges it well.

Martin wastes no time in sending down six dot balls. Maidens are fine for England but it's wickets that New Zealand desperately crave.
Bell takes advantage of a floated half-volley outside off stump to earn two through cover early in Wagner's over. The same batsman nudges a single through square-leg to rotate the strike. There's a slow hand clap around the ground (think bad 1980s movie) as Wagner runs in but Root confidently defends a short ball from the bowler.
Root currently has 25, while Bell has reached 26 from 162 balls.
Martin is doing a good job of keeping the over-rate high as he coasts through another uneventful maiden over.
Root opens the face of his bat to hurry a single to point before Bell works the ball past short leg, wisely rejecting an opportunity for a quick run. Wagner finds a good length outside off stump but Bell does well to push the ball through cover for a couple. Good work from the England duo.
Martin comes over the wicket to try and target the foot holes outside Root's leg stump. The batsman is happy to use his pad to defend outside the line before opening his stance to cut through the off-side for a single. Bell quickly hands the strike back to Root, who drills the ball through point for two more.
There's a problem for New Zealand as McCullum is force off the field when he injures his knee chasing a ball at deep point. It's unclear who takes the captaincy now. Wagner breezes through his over for the loss of two runs.
Williamson is back into the attack but he's too full early in the over and Bell helps himself to four runs down the ground. Another loose delivery is whipped through mid-wicket for four by Bell, who then misses out down the leg-side. The new ball is now available.
The new ball is immediately taken by stand-in captain Williamson. Predictably, it's Boult who gets his hand on it first.

Huge moment! Boult does the rick with his first delivery as he brings one back into Root's pads. The umpire immediately raises the finger and after briefly considering a review, Root trudges back to the dressing room. Brilliant from Boult, who has delivered a sickening blow to England's hopes.
Bairstow is the new batsman but he's able to watch his first ball drift past his pads on the leg-side. The new batsman does superbly to dig out a yorker from the seamer before ducking a fierce bouncer. A replay of the fuller delivery suggests Bairstow may have been struck on the boot first but he survives anyway. Superb start from Boult.
Southee is back to share the new ball with Boult and he's immediately on target, with Bell fortunate to get off strike with a thick inside edge. Bairstow gets off the mark with a drive through the covers for two before having a single to point rejected by Bell. One more over left in the session.
Chance! Boult finds Bell's edge but Brownlie can't take the catch at fourth slip. It's a bit of a shocker from the fielder. Oh dear, New Zealand. It gets worse when Bairstow edges an expansive drive to gully, where Williamson puts the diving catch down. Boult stands still with a look of disbelief painted across his face. Amazing over just before lunch. Great bowling but he somehow manages to leave the over with only five runs added to his figures.
Lunch: England looked assured for the majority of that session but Root's departure has given New Zealand even more confidence heading into the break. The superb Boult should have had at least one more wicket but Bairstow and Bell have survived, just.
We'll take a break during the lunch interval but make sure you're all here in around 35 minutes as this fascinating day of Test cricket continues.
Welcome back. England fans will have been quietly confident after 90 minutes of that first session but that brilliant delivery from Boult to dismiss Root has changed the mood in Auckland. England face an even bigger battle in the second session with the new ball causing all sorts of problems.
Bell will resume on 41 and he'll want no more silly shots to appear in his innings. Bairstow has six to his name and it's vital that he curbs his counter attacking instinct early on.
The next 30 minutes are crucial for both sides. New Zealand will want at least two more wickets while the ball is still new but England cannot afford anymore mistakes. Batting will become easier when the movement stops. Southee will begin the session.
Southee starts the over well, finding a thick edge but the ball drops well short of Williamson in the gully. Bell nudges the ball into the off-side for a single and he'll keep the strike.
Check out the in-play odds with William Hill
There's no prizes for guessing that Boult is hitting the right areas once again after lunch. He gets a length ball to bounce more and Bell does well to block the delivery. Excellent over once again and Bell is happy to defend a maiden.
Southee goes very full to Bairstow but he's met with some stubborn defence from England's new number six.
WICKET! Bairstow (6) c Taylor b Southee
Southee gets his reward for forcing Bairstow to play. The ball does just enough to catch the edge and Taylor takes a routine catch at first slip. That's exactly what the hosts needed after lunch. Matt Prior in next for England.
Prior clips his first delivery through square-leg for two runs. Great over from Southee and England have an even bigger battle on their hands now.
Bell's defiance continues as he drives through the covers for three at the beginning of another Boult over. Prior helps himself to a boundary with a nudge behind square on the leg-side. Boult loses his line again to gift Prior four more to fine leg. It's a rare sloppy over from the left-arm seamer, 11 runs from it.
McCullum is back out on the field but he's not moving too well. Hamstring strain is apparently the reason for the discomfort and that could put his IPL place in doubt.
Bell is confident when pulling Southee through the leg-side for four runs. Fifty! It may not be his prettiest but Bell reaches his half-century with a push through the covers for three. Southee finds a great line to Prior but England's wicketkeeper is equal to the threat.
Boult forces Bell to reach for the ball outside off stump and he edges the ball short of Brownlie, who stops the ball well at fourth slip. Bell ensures he'll keep the strike with a single through point off the final ball.
Southee's line is impressive throughout the over, conceding just a single on the off-side. New Zealand aren't happy with the ball but it certainly seems to be doing the job at the moment.
Nervous about the result? Want to 'Cash in your bet'? See how with William Hill.
The umpires have agreed that the current ball isn't up to standards and the Black Caps have been given a replacement. Let's see what this one will do.
Boult is too wide early in the over and Bell is certainly not interested in throwing his bat out there. It's a maiden but the lack of threat will disappoint the bowler.
Prior is completely beaten by a stunning delivery from Southee. The slips felt there was an edge and after some deliberation, McCullum reviews the decision. Watling didn't look confident and Hot Spot shows there was no edge. A mistake at mid-on allows Prior to sneak two runs midway through the over before an expansive cut shot sees the ball loop over the slips and to the boundary for four.
Superb bowling from Boult as he beats the bat when Bell attempts a pull before getting one to leave the right-handed batsman, prompting applause from around the ground. Bell gives the delivery a nod of approval before pushing one past point for a single.
Nice start to the over from Bell as he lunges forward to nudge the ball through the off-side for a single. Southee swings one back into Prior and hits the pads but it looks like the ball may have done too much, meaning the umpire isn't interested. The replays prove there was an edge too, good decision. There's another huge appeal, it looks like an inside edge but the finger is raised! Prior isn't convinced and immediately reviews the decision, with the inside edge being confirmed by Hot Spot. A cover drive brings Prior two more and he survives a testing over.
Martin is back into the attack for the hosts but he's slightly inconsistent on his return and a poor short ball is cut away for four by Bell. The same batsman earns two more through cover to make it six from the over.
Southee knows to bowl straight to Prior but so far, the batsman is just managing to do enough to keep the ball out. McCullum moves Rutherford to short leg but a wider ball from Southee allows Prior to add two through cover. Chance! Prior miscues a pull shot straight into the air and begins to walk back to the dressing room but Wagner can't make the ground to take what would have been a stunning catch. Prior lives dangerously once again outside off stump but doesn't edge the ball, much to the dismay of the fielders. England breathe a sigh of relief and it's time for a drinks break.
Prior is looking very nervous out there. Southee is in the middle of a big spell and McCullum probably wants to give him a rest but the bowler is all over Prior at the moment.
Martin is struggling to find the right length at the moment, bowling slightly too full to Bell. The batsman opens his stance to cut powerfully but he picks out the fielder at backward point. Maiden.
Southee continues but he's too short outside off stump and Prior pulls to reach the boundary rope in the most emphatic of fashions. It's the only blemish to an otherwise solid over.

The trumpet player in the crowd serenades everyone with a superb version of 'Living on a Prayer' as Martin races through another maiden over.
Southee is replaced by Wagner and his first ball is edged through the slips for four runs by Prior. To be fair to the batsman, he played it with soft hands to negate the threat. Prior drills a cover drive straight to Rutherford midway through the over. Wow, astonishing moment. Prior is completely beaten by a bouncer and, after deflecting off the helmet, the ball hits the stumps but somehow the bails aren't dislodged. Unbelievable. Wagner can't believe it but Prior survives.
Martin isn't carrying the threat McCullum would like him to at the moment. Bell easily defends the fuller deliveries before seeing his cut shot blocked at point. Maiden.
Wagner starts the over with another short ball but prior easily pulls to square-leg for a single before engaging in some banter with the bowler. Bell pushes a run down the ground to rotate the strike again. Prior is happy to defend the remaining deliveries and
McCullum considers his options before throwing the ball to Williamson, who replaces the ineffective Martin. The returning spinner flights the ball beautifully to catch Bell's inside edge but the ball squirms past the close fielders to earn the batsman four to fine leg. Bell gets an inside edge on the next delivery too and the ball drops agonisingly short of Rutherford at short leg.
Prior cuts the ball away past point to add two more to his tally, which now stands at 31. Wagner is doing his best to start a war of word with Prior but England's wicketkeeper responds in the perfect way as he pulls over mid-wicket for four. Prior is almost fooled by a shorter ball but he guides the ball short of the fielder at gully. A second pull brings the batsman a single and he'll keep the strike.
Williamson does well to push Prior onto the back foot before floating one too full outside off stump to allow the batsman to gather a single. Bell stands tall to punch the ball through mid-on and reach the boundary, moving into the seventies in the process.
England fans, you have 38 more overs left to hold on. New Zealand supporters need just four more wickets to celebrate a famous series triumph.
Martin is back into the attack but he's once again too short and Prior punishes him by hammering the ball through the off-side for four. Boult dives at point to stop a cut shot and Martin responds well to the early boundary by sending down five dot balls.
Williamson looked threatening but his spell comes to an end, with Wagner coming back on. Bell doesn't make great contact with a pull shot and is restricted to a single by Boult at mid-wicket. A thick edge drops short of the slips before Prior swings wildly at a shorter ball. There's appeals for a catch but the umpire shakes his head and McCullum isn't interested in reviewing the decision.

Much better from Martin but McCullum may be tempted into giving Williamson another bowl before tea. Prior adds four more to his total when he steers the ball through the vacant gap on the off-side. Bell's single means it's five from the over.
Bell considers the hook shot when Wagner fires in a bouncer but wisely retreats his bat. Very good maiden over from Wagner, who's been very impressive today. Brownlie will be cursing that dropped catch off Bell shortly before lunch.
Good decision from McCullum as he throws the ball back to Williamson. Prior takes no risks against the spinner and blocks out a maiden over. One more over left in the session.
Bell begins the final over of the session by driving Wagner through extra cover for a couple.
WICKET! Bell (75) c Southee b Wagner
What a time to take a wicket! Bell's defiant innings comes to an end as he edges one to Southee at slip. Just as things were beginning to look promising for the tourists, New Zealand make a crucial breakthrough. Surely England cannot come back from here?
Tea: That wicket marks the end of the session. Bell has done exactly what was asked of him today but he couldn't quite make it to the end. New Zealand have one more session to take three wickets. This is Test cricket at it's best.
The Black Caps were beginning to look a bit flat in the field before that wicket but Wagner's determination will change the morale in the dressing room. He bowled with aggression and has caused Prior all sorts of problems before claiming the prize wicket of Bell.
Broad will come to the crease under huge pressure but New Zealand know this job isn't finished yet. One more wicket, however, will expose the genuine tail-end batsmen.
Remember Anderson and Panesar against Australia at Cardiff? Could it come down to those two again? The next partnership is vital for England but with Broad looking out of form, it looks a colossal task.

New Zealand will be left feeling sick if they don't complete the job. However, a series victory will b e heard everywhere around the world of Test cricket.
Here we go then. Just over 32 overs left in the day. New Zealand need three wickets to win the game and the series.
Wagner comes over the wicket to complete his over and he beats Broad's bat with a rising delivery. Superb bowling but Broad survives.
Southee returns and immediately hits the stumps but Prior stepped away well in advance due to something distracting him in the stands. A push into the off-side earns the batsman two runs before a perfectly timed cover drive earns Prior four and brings up his Fifty. Muted celebrations from Prior, he knows there's a long way to go. Seven from the over.
Prior refuses to let the situation bother him as he pulls Wagner over mid-wicket for four runs. Wagner persists with the short bowling but Prior continues to frustrate the bowler, lofting the ball over point for another boundary. A swing and a miss outside off stump has the slips gasping again but Prior's safe, for now.
Broad shows great temperament as he defends a couple of shorter deliveries before surviving a big lbw appeal. Southee does find the edge but the ball drops well shorts of the packed slip region. The bowler has a word with Broad but England's number nine refuses to respond. Maiden over.
Wagner clearly believes the short ball is the correct option against Prior but the batsman once again helps himself to a boundary with a pull shot behind square. A nudge through the off-side brings Prior a single and Broad once again shows his defensive side to survive. 28 overs left.
Prior is off strike early in Southee's over but New Zealand won't mind having five balls at Broad, who shuffles across his crease to defend, exposing his leg stump. It's an absorbing contest in Auckland. One more over down for England.
Boult returns to the attack for the hosts but his pace is down. Prior sneaks a single to cover towards the end of the over and Broad easily defends the final ball.
Williamson begins a new spell and his spin is once again effective as he completes a maiden, meaning Broad will begin Boult's next over on strike.
Nervous about the result? Want to 'Cash in your bet'? See how with William Hill.
Broad lunges forward at a Boult delivery but manages to not nick the ball towards the slips. A shorter ball almost surprises Broad but he does well to move his hands away at the last minute. New Zealand celebrate when an in-swinging yorker knocks Broad off his feet, with the umpire raising his finger to indicate lbw. Broad immediately calls for a review and the replay shows a clear inside edge. Close for New Zealand but the tourists are still hanging in there.
This Test really has proven why the review system should be mandatory. It's made a big difference.
Brownlie does brilliantly at second slip to stop a thick edge from Prior early in Williamson's over. Good cricket from Prior as he defends five balls before stealing a single to keep the strike.
Boult changes tactics, going full to Prior in a new over but the batsman is able to whip one off his toes for four more. Prior then flirts with a ball outside off stump but still doesn't edge it to Watling. This must be torture for McCullum.
Broad has problems early in Williamson's over but he manages to move his gloves away from the big turning delivery. Williamson varies his pace but Broad is alert to the danger and digs out the delivery. Prior has 72 and Broad remains on zero. 21 overs left.
Prior is happy to take a single when he deflects a shorter ball onto the leg-side. Broad is equally confident in defence and he negotiates the remainder of Boult's over.
McCullum, still hobbling about the field, makes another change as he brings Southee back into the attack. Prior enjoys another moment of luck as he drags the ball past his stumps and manages to share a smile with Southee in a brief break from this pressure cooker of a situation.
Martin is back and he'll be aiming to trouble the left-handed Broad outside off stump. The spinner is too wide though and he won't get Broad driving expansively today. It's very good from Broad as he comfortably sees out a maiden.
Southee changes his approach, coming round the wicket to Prior. A flick off the thigh pad brings Prior four and sees him move into the eighties. Another ripple of applause comes from the England fans and that can only mean that the tourists have survived another over.
Broad seems to be growing in confidence at the crease as he defends yet another maiden from Martin. Maidens aren't the issue for New Zealand but they're running out of time to claim three wickets. 16 more overs left in the series.

Williamson comes into the attack for what seems like the 100th time today. Prior pushes the ball into the deep on the leg-side but refuses to take a single so early in the over. A powerful drive through the covers allows the England duo to run two. New Zealand need an injection of life into their game. For the final time, the players take a drinks break.
If England can somehow survive these final 15 overs, it will feel like a victory? New Zealand cannot let this opportunity pass, a win would be huge for a side ranked eighth in the ICC Test rankings.
New Zealand have one more hour to record victory. That will seem like an eternity to England fans but the tourists are one step closer to an unlikely draw as Broad survives a good over from Martin.
It's Wagner who gets the ball as McCullum rotates his bowlers again. Prior will keep playing his shots and he moves to 87 with a pull shot behind square on the leg-side. A slower bouncer is well direct but Prior adjusts well to push the ball away safely. There's a big appeal when Watling takes a catch off another bouncer but the ball hit the shoulder rather than the bat or glove.
McCullum takes a sharp catch at silly mid-off but it's straight off the pad. Another catch is taken at gully but once again the ball hit the pad instead of the bat. It's a much better over from Martin and there's still time for McCullum to take one more catch off the pad. Broad has now survived 57 deliveries but remains on zero.
Prior takes three runs to deep cover midway through Wagner's over and the field changes drastically for Broad. The batsman gets a thick inside edge on a wider one but the ball strike his pads, leaving the fielders in disbelief. Wagner then beats the outside edge with a shorter ball before seeing a second bouncer defended.
Are you still with me? 11 overs left in this game. New Zealand are running out of time.
Prior rocks back into the crease in trademark fashion to cut through the off-side for four. A well-timed drive stops short of the rope but Prior manages to add three more. That's the fifty partnership between these two and Broad is yet to contribute a single run.....until now! A thick outside edge rolls past the fielders and Broad has two runs.
Prior, three short of a century, negotiates another couple of bouncers. CENTURY! Amazing scenes as Prior curses himself for pulling the ball through the air. He survives and has four runs, meaning he reaches his century in the oddest of ways. Prior knows he's not finished but what a performance from England's wicketkeeper.
Broad takes a couple of big lunges outside off stump to smother Martin's deliveries. The spinner quickens the pace but Broad rocks back to block well. Eight overs left, it's time for Southee.

Southee finds a nice line but he's lost a bit of pace following his earlier efforts. Prior confidently defends all six deliveries. Boult will come back into the attack and he'll be bowling at Broad.
Broad is completely beaten by Boult's first delivery. The bowler fires in a bouncer but it's too short to concern Broad. Review! Broad shuffles across his crease and shouts of lbw are heard loud and clear from the fielders. The umpire shakes his head but McCullum uses his final review. Replays show Broad moved so far across that he was struck outside the line of off stump. Good decision. It's another over done, six more left.
Southee is beginning to look tired and you can't blame a bowler who has been so fantastic throughout the match. Watling comes up to the stumps but there's big foot movement from Prior. However, he takes a big risk when pulling through the leg-side and just manages to beat the fielders. England fans will be delighted to count down one more over.
This is an admirable effort from Boult. The left-arm seamer is powering in with a lot of pace but he just can't find that special delivery to make the breakthrough. Prior negotiates a maiden over again. Four overs left. 24 deliveries until stumps. Three wickets for a New Zealand win.
Williamson is given one last spell by McCullum but he starts poorly and Broad earns his first boundary with a cut through the covers.
WICKET! Broad (6) c Taylor b Williamson
We're not finished yet! Williamson takes the edge and Taylor takes a good catch at slip. Broad's brave innings comes to an end with 21 balls left in the match. Anderson comes to the crease. New Zealand need two more wickets for victory.
Williamson wastes a delivery by bowling almost off the pitch.
WICKET! Anderson (0) c Taylor b Williamson
This is turning into one of the most astonishing games of cricket you are likely to witness. Anderson edges his second ball to Taylor at slip. New Zealand need just one more wicket to win. It's time for Panesar.

Amazing! Panesar gets a thick inside edge on his first ball and it rolls agonisingly away from the stumps. Superb from Williamson, who has given the hosts one more chance of victory. Three overs left.
Boult is putting everything he has into this over. He goes to full and he's punished for the full toss, with the umpiring giving a no ball. Boult finds the inside edge again but the ball deflects off Prior's pads and races away to the rope at fine leg. Prior wants a single from the final delivery but his steer through the gully is too powerful and he reaches the rope again. Panesar will be on strike again!
Unbelievable scenes! Panesar pushes the ball away and calls for a single. He dives too early but somehow manages to make his ground. Williamson finds a probing line but Prior defends well. The field is changed by McCullum to protect the single and the job is done perfectly by the skipper. One over left. Boult against Panesar. Can England do it? Will New Zealand find this final wicket? We'll know in six balls.
First ball: It's a beauty from Boult as he beats Panesar's outside edge by an inch.
Second ball: Panesar pulls his bat away from a shorter delivery and it's another ball survived by the number 11.
Third ball: Superb from Panesar as he lunges at a fuller ball to get off strike with a single through extra cover.
Fourth ball: Boult attempts the yorker but Prior whips the ball off his toes through square-leg. No runs are scored and the ball has to be collected.
Fifth ball: Prior gets behind the ball and confidently defends the penultimate delivery.
England draw the third Test with New Zealand! Prior blocks the final ball of the day and immediately throws his hands into the air. The England fans begin to sing and somehow, the tourists have managed to salvage a draw.
It's been an astonishing day of Test cricket. Prior has earned every hug he is receiving from his teammates. He ends unbeaten on 111 and will rightly dominate the headlines.
Nervous about the result? Want to 'Cash in your bet'? See how with William Hill.
New Zealand will feel sick after missing the opportunity to claim a series victory. The Black Caps have been fantastic throughout this match and gave everything today but in the end, it just wasn't to be for McCullum's men.
Now breathe! It seemed like this result was impossible at one point today but we've seen Test cricket at it's best today. Thank you for experiencing the drama with me today and for following Sports Mole throughout this series. Goodbye.
