New Zealand batsman Corey Anderson has made history by hitting the fastest ever one-day international century.

Anderson reached his ton from just 36 balls against the West Indies in Auckland, breaking the previous record of 37, which was set by Pakistan's Shahid Afridi in 1996.

The rain-affected match was reduced to 21 overs per side and New Zealand posted a massive score of 283-4, as Anderson ended unbeaten on 131 with a strike-rate of 278.72 after facing 47 deliveries.

Anderson's explosive innings saw the 23-year-old hit six fours and 14 sixes.

The Windies made just 124/5 in reply, meaning that the Black Caps level the five-game series at 1-1 with two matches remaining.
