New Zealand have a lead of 316 at lunch on day three of their first Test match against India.

New Zealand have a lead of 316 at lunch on day three of their first Test match against India at Eden Park.

India resumed on 130-4, but were soon another wicket down when Ajinkya Rahane hit a poor shot off the bowling of Tim Southee, and was caught by Ross Taylor.

It was soon 138-6 as Rohit Sharma (72) played the ball onto his stumps off Trend Boult.

India made it to 167, but their short-lived revival was over as MS Dhoni (10) edged the ball to wicketkeeper BJ Watling, who completed a good catch behind the stumps.

Watling then got Zaheer Khan (14), and Ishant Sharma went when he tried to play over the top and was unable to clear the in-field. Boult took the catch to leave India 189-9.

It was all over when Neil Wagner got Mohammed Shami to bring an end to the Indian innings on 202.

The Kiwis decided not to enforce the follow-on, but Shami struck earlier with the wickets of Hamish Rutherford and Peter Fulton.

Khan carried on India's brilliant start to the hosts' second innings to dismiss Kane Williamson, and double centurion Brendon McCullum also went when he ran himself out to bring an end to the first session of the day with New Zealand 15-4.
