New Zealand have taken a 1-0 lead in the two-match one-day international series against Sri Lanka by winning the first contest by three runs in Mount Maunganui

After the hosts went into bat first, Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson soared to century opening stand with both reaching 50.

Guptill (58) was the first to go as he was run out by Chamara Kapugedera and Williamson (53) later followed off the bowling of Nuwan Kulasekara.
