New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson scored a half-century to guide the hosts to an eight-wicket victory in the first Test against Pakistan in Christchurch on Sunday.
After being set a victory target of 105, Williamson's 24th Test fifty - the highest score of the match - secured the win on the fourth afternoon at the Hagley Oval.
Leading by 67 runs after the first innings, the Black Caps bowled out Pakistan for 171 in their second innings and reached their target less than an hour after lunch.
Jeet Raval, making his New Zealand debut, followed with a boundary from Yasir Shah in the 32nd over to post the winning runs and finish 36 not out.
Tom Latham was the only Black Caps wicket to fall before lunch when he failed to handle a bouncer from Mohammad Amir and was caught in the gully by Asad Shafiq for nine.
The victory was New Zealand's first in their last six Tests, having drawn the first match with South Africa in August before losing the second then being beaten 3-0 by India in October.
