Sri Lanka need 355 runs on the final day to win the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington.

Sri Lanka have finished day four on 45-1 as they chase 390 to win the second Test against New Zealand.

New Zealand earlier declared on 524-5 to set Sri Lanka 390, after a 365-run partnership between Kane Williamson and BJ Watling that lasted most of the day in what has been an impressive turn around from the hosts, who looked likely to lose the Test at the end of day three.

Williamson (242*) reached his first double century in the format, while Watling (142*) scored his highest Test score on a dominant day for the Kiwis.

Sri Lanka looked as if they would survive the evening without losing a wicket, before Dimuth Karunaratne lobbed Mark Craig to mid-off with only a few overs remaining.

Kaushal Silva (20*) and nightwatchman Dhammika Prasad (1*) will continue tomorrow morning.
