New Zealand bounced back from the early loss of both opening batsmen to post a competitive score of 315-8 in the sixth one-day International against Sri Lanka in Dunedin.
Their innings got off to the worst possible start as Dhammika Prasad [2-59] removed captain Brendan McCullum for a duck.
New Zealand had started to recover when fellow opener Martin Guptill edged Thisara Perera into the grateful hands of wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara.
However, the home team recovered from 59-2 thanks to Kane Williamson's 97 off 141 balls.
Despite Williamson being run out just short of his century, Ross Taylor weighed in with 96, while Corey Anderson's quickfire 40 helped New Zealand past 300.
