Alastair Cook has revealed that England are capable of triumph over India in the third Test match at Edgbaston.
The home side, who lead 2-0 after victories at Lord’s and Trent Bridge, need one more win to secure Test victory and place themselves at the top of the ranks.
Despite England’s advantage, Cook believes that himself and his teammates must remain focused.
"We won't look at their side too much but we do know that quality players are coming back and we do need to be on top of our game, like we have been, and hopefully someone from our side can put in a match-winning performance,” Cook told Sky Sports News.
When asked how much it means to the team to be ranked No.1, the 26-year-old added: "It does, but we're not there yet. There's a long way to go before we are.
"We might be at the end of the series, we don't know, but Andrew Strauss and Andy Flower are very keen that we don't look too far ahead.
"You come and watch our training on Monday and it will be of a very high intensity."
