England one-day captain Alistair Cook has signed a new two-year contract with Essex.
Despite a busy summer with England, the batsman has still managed to play six County Championship games and four CB40 games for his county, scoring 655 runs.
"I have played at Essex all my life and they have always been very supportive when I play and when I'm away with England," the 26-year-old said.
"I am delighted to sign a two-year contract with Essex."
Cook was appointed as England ODI captain in May and guided his side to a 3-2 win over Sri Lanka in his first series as captain.
