Robert Croft announces his intention to retire at the end of the season after 25 years of cricket with Glamorgan.

Robert Croft has announced his intention to retire from professional cricket at the end of the season after 25 years with Glamorgan.

The former England off-spinner has played 973 first-class matches in all formats, including 21 Tests and 50 one-day internationals for his country between 1996 and 2001.

Despite being 31 years old at the end of his England career, Croft extended his playing days by a further decade with his hometown club.

He is one of only nine players to have achieved the 1,000 wickets and 10,000 first-class runs double landmark and also won a County Championship and three National League titles with Glamorgan, for whom he has played since 1987.

Croft will stay on at the club in a coaching capacity after finishing his on-field career against Kent in four-day action at Cardiff next week.
