The 32-year-old was included in England's Test squad to tour Sri Lanka.

Kent all-rounder Joe Denly has been voted NatWest PCA Players' Player of the Year.

Denly, whose form in 2018 earned him a call-up to England's Test squad to face Sri Lanka next month, was selected ahead of Rory Burns, Rikki Clarke and Ollie Pope at the Professional Cricketers' Association awards ceremony in London.

The 32-year-old also picked up the Vitality Blast Player of the Year and the Royal London One-Day Cup Player of the Year, as well as being selected in The Greene King Team of the Year.

Surrey player Pope took home the John Arlott Cup for the NatWest PCA Young Player of the Year.

According to the PCA, Denly said: "Being here tonight and being the NatWest PCA Players' Player of the Year, it's a very proud day and the ultimate accolade in domestic cricket. It's been a very enjoyable 12 months that's for sure.

"The last couple of years is about enjoying cricket and having a good understanding of what works for me and what doesn't, and really sticking to that and enjoying that.

"Playing against fantastic crickets throughout the years and being recognised for your contribution to your team, and what you achieved in that year is something very special and to be proud of."

England's James Anderson was named the Specsavers Test Player of the Summer after becoming the most prolific seam bowler in Test cricket, while Sophie Ecclestone won the NatWest Women's Player of the Summer.

Anderson, who also won the award last year, surpassed Glenn McGrath's 563 wickets with the final dismissal of the series win over India.

"It's been a great summer for me personally and the team," said Anderson.

"Beating the number one side in the world quite convincingly 4-1 was a real highlight for me and the rest of the lads. We're looking forward to even brighter things this winter."

Jos Buttler won the PCA One Day International Player of the Summer Award, while Lancashire's Tom Bailey was named PCA County Championship Player of the Year.

The team of the year comprised Burns (Surrey), Alex Davies (Lancashire), Denly (Kent), Ian Bell (Warwickshire/Birmingham Bears), James Vince (Hampshire), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Dane Vilas (Lancashire), Clarke (Surrey), Ed Barnard (Worcestershire), Matt Henry (Kent) and Morne Morkel (Surrey)

Michael Gough picked up the Harold Goldblatt Award for the PCA Umpire of the Year, Ali Brown won the Greene King PCA England Masters Player of the Summer, and the ECB Special Award went to Mick Hunt.

David Leatherdale, PCA chief executive, said: "Tonight is about championing the best individual players throughout the season and I would like to congratulate all of tonight's winners.

"There is no higher praise than to be voted for by all your team-mates and your peers."
