Scott Styris blasted the third-quickest century in the history of Twenty20 cricket in Sussex Sharks' quarter-final match with Gloucestershire Gladiators this evening.
The New Zealand international hit nine sixes on his way to an unbeaten 37-ball hundred, which fired Sussex to a total of 230 at the end of their allotted overs.
Legendary Sri Lankan bowler Muttiah Muralitharan missed an opportunity to run out Styris when he was on just seven.
He went on to make the Gladiators pay as he took 38 runs off one James Fuller over - the most lucrative over in the history of the format - on his way to 100 not out.
Styris's ton has put Sussex on the verge of reaching finals day at the Swalec Stadium in August.
