The sentencing of former Essex bowler Mervyn Westfield has been adjourned until Friday, February 17.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to charges of corruption last month in relation to a Pro40 match between Essex and Durham in September 2009.

Westfield has been accused of deliberately conceding 12 runs in his first over, which prompted charges of accepting or obtaining corrupt payments under the Corruption Act and helping other to cheat under the 2005 Gambling Act.

While a sentence was due to be reached today, administrative errors has caused the judge to postpone the decision until next week.

Westfield could face a maximum penalty of seven years behind bars.
