Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal is 'very disappointed' by his ICC international bowling ban for a suspect action, but insists that his career is not over.

Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has said that he is 'very disappointed' to have been banned from bowling by the ICC, but is confident that his career is not over.

The 36-year-old has been suspended from bowling in international matches after his action was found to be outside of the 15 degrees level of tolerance allowed.

It has been suggested that Ajmal, who is currently ranked as the world's leading one-day international bowler, may never play international cricket again, but the off-spinner has described himself as a "fighter" and is determined to return in time to play in the 50-over World Cup in February 2015.

"The ICC has stopped me from bowling because my elbow is bending beyond the 15 degrees allowed and I know I can correct that," Ajmal said in a statement.

"It is very disappointing to know the results of the tests, but I am a fighter and I know what I have to do to get back into international cricket before the World Cup."

Ajmal has taken 178 Test match wickets at an average of 28.10 for Pakistan since debuting in 2009.
