Veteran batsman Misbah-ul-Haq aims to play county cricket next year in case he decides to feature against England in July.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has revealed that he would like to play county cricket in England next year.

Having skippered his country to a 2-0 Test series victory over England earlier this week, there had been suggestions that Ul-Huq was going to call time on his career.

However, with a return meeting against Alastair Cook's men in England to come in July, Ul-Huq has conceded that he will look to get some County Championship matches under his belt in case he decides to carry on.

"I have been asked many times if I will be part of that tour. At this moment I am in a bit of a conundrum. I haven't decided yet if I will be touring England," he said in a statement.

"But, what I can tell you is that I am looking to play some county cricket at the start of the next summer. I am eyeing a contract with some team in a bid to get match practice in the English conditions.

"We are still eight months away from that tour and with no Test cricket until then it will be difficult for me to stay in rhythm. At this stage of my career I simply cannot afford a four or five-month gap before touring England. Therefore I'll have to keep playing, no matter which format it is."

The veteran has an average of almost 50 from his 61 Test appearances.
