Pakistan have set Afghanistan a target of 249 to win their Asia Cup match in Fatullah.
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field but they struggled to make an early breakthrough, as Pakistan openers Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shahzad put on a partnership of 55 for the first wicket before Khan fell to the bowling of Hamza Hotik.
Shahzad notched up his half-century before he and Misbah-ul-Haq were dismissed in quick succession to leave Pakistan on 89-4, but Umar Akmal's unbeaten knock of 102 off 89 balls helped his side to recover.
Anwar Ali kept the score ticking over with 21 off 36 deliveries, but the team's four remaining batsmen failed to pass the 15-run mark as Pakistan finished on 248-8 from their 50 overs.
Dawlat Zadran, Mirwais Ashraf and Saniullah Shenwari took two wickets for Afghanistan, while Hotak claimed one.
