New Zealand level their ODI series with Pakistan at 2-2 thanks to a narrow seven-run victory in Abu Dhabi.

New Zealand have beaten Pakistan by seven runs in Abu Dhabi to level the one-day international series at 2-2 with one match remaining.

The tourists made 299-4 from their 50 overs before limiting the hosts to 292 for the loss of eight wickets.

Kane Williamson starred with the bat for New Zealand thanks to an imperious knock of 123, while openers Martin Guptill (58) and Dean Brownlie (42) also made significant contributions.

Meanwhile, scores of 26 and 23 from Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson helped the visitors to bump up their total in the middle order.

Mohammad Irfan ended with figures of 2-53 for Pakistan, who had Sohail Tanvir, Anwar Ali and Shahid Afridi share the remaining wickets between them.

The home side saw their time at the crease get off to a disappointing start as Ahmed Shehzad was dismissed for a duck in the opening over by Matt Henry, but 103 from Younis Khan and 30 from Nasir Jamshed got Pakistan back on track.

Umar Akmal (29) and Afridi (49) put up some resistance around the middle order, though it was not enough in the end as New Zealand saw off the tail to level the series.

Daniel Vettori claimed three wickets overall, while Henry, Anderson, Adam Milne and Mitchell McClenaghan all took one wicket each.
