Australia require 216 runs to win the second one-day international against Pakistan in Dubai and clinch the series.
Openers Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed started strongly by hitting a combined total of 126 runs before Shehzad [61] was sent back to the pavilion.
The Australian bowlers found some momentum following Xavier Doherty's breakthrough wicket as Mitchell Johnson dismissed Ahmed shortly after.
Johnson went on to take two more wickets, while Umar Akmal [five], Shahid Afridi [two], Wahab Riaz [two] and Zulfiqar Babar [six] all failed to get into double figures with the bat.
Raza Hasan was run out for a duck, but Fawad Alam saw Pakistan beyond 200 with a patient 20 not out before they were bowled out for 215 in the final over.
