The Melbourne Renegades have kept their place at the top of the table in the Big Bash T20 League after defeating the Hobart Hurricanes by seven wickets with 40 balls remaining.
The Hurricanes took to the crease first after the Renegades won the toss and chose to field. It was a poor start for the side's batsmen as Tim Paine was dismissed for just seven, while Ricky Ponting, who retired from Test cricket earlier this month, could only muster 25 runs for the Hurricanes.
The Renegades were strong on the field and held their opponents to just 102 runs after 20 overs, leaving Xavier Doherty and Doug Bollinger unbeaten on 10 and six runs respectively.
Aaron Finch, who has been a standout player for the Renegades so far in the campaign, led the chase after the innings break alongside Daniel Harris, who fell for just three runs.
Marlon Samuels and Ben Rohrer managed to rack up 21 and 18 respectively but it was Finch who stormed his side to victory with 46 runs and remained unbeaten.
