The Adelaide Strikers were dealt a cruel blow after Brisbane Heat clinched the Big Bash clash in Perth on the final ball of the day to claim 186 runs.
The Strikers took to the crease first and experienced a stuttering start as James Smith and Michael Klinger were dismissed for five and one respectively in the early stages.
Callum Ferguson began to give his side some composure when he entered the field. The batsman managed to claim 52 runs before getting caught out by Nathan Hauritz, and Kieron Pollard also helped save the Strikers' blushes by snatching 48 runs before leaving the field.
The Strikers finished their innings with a rate of 185-8, leaving Heat to chase with Luke Pomersbach and James Hopes first at the crease.
Heat started off strongly, with Pomersbach racking up 65 runs before Cameron Boyce ended the batsman's campaign, while Joe Burns also had a positive stint by claiming 37 runs.
Pressure mounted on Heat as they entered the last over agonisingly close to their target and it was Peter Forrest and Chris Hartley who managed to claim the win with three wickets to spare on the final ball.
Heat now have their first victory of the campaign, while the Strikers also have one win to their name.
