Brisbane Heat record a 34-run victory over the Perth Scorchers to win the Big Bash League in Australia.

The Brisbane Heat won the Australian Big Bash League at the WACA in Perth this morning thanks to a 34-run over the Perth Scorchers.

Brisbane won the toss and chose to bat. Peter Forrest (17) was the first to go as he was caught off the bowling of Jason Behrendorff.

In came Joe Burns and together with Luke Pomersbach, guided the Heat towards 100. Behrendorff dismissed Pomersbach for 37 before a number of boundaries from Burns and new partner Daniel Christian.

The Heat ended their innings on 167-5, with Burns top scoring on 43.

The Scorchers, playing at the their home ground, got off to a sluggish start as Marcus Stoinis went for just 1 when he top-edged Kemar Roach to Nathan Hauritz at third man.

Hauritz took another fine diving catch to remove Shaun Marsh and with both openers gone, Perth were at 38-2 in the eighth over.

Marcus North hit the first six of the Perth innings on his way to 24 from 23 balls before he was dismissed by Christian.

His dismissal brought Adam Voges to the crease and the Australian batsman hauled the Scorchers into contention with a knock of 49 from just 32 deliveries.

However, when Roach claimed his wicket, the home side began to struggle.

Their last hope was Mike Hussey, but when he was caught in the deep by Christian for 10, the Scorchers' chances of winning the tournament diminished.

They eventually ended their 20 overs on 133-9.
