Hobart Hurricanes have opened their Big Bash League campaign with a 52-run victory away to Melbourne Stars.
The Hurricanes made 190-5 from their 20 overs before bowling out the hosts, who have lost their first two games of the season, for 138-9.
Jonathan Wells did most of the damage with the bat for the away side thanks to a knock of 68, while Ben Dunk (43) and Darren Sammy (38) also helped out at the crease.
John Hastings ended with figures of 3-24 for Melbourne, who had Jackson Bird and James Faulkner share the remaining two wickets between them.
Cameron White hit a gallant 62 at the top of the order for the Stars when it was their turn out in the middle, but disappointing scores from Luke Wright (13), Kevin Pietersen (one), Glenn Maxwell (12) and David Hussey (13) derailed their innings.
James Faulkner put up some resistance in the middle order with 20 off 18 balls, though Hobart had little trouble in clearing up the tail thanks to four wickets for Ben Hilfenhaus and three for Joe Mennie.
