Varun Chopra's century in Hobart couldn't prevent England Lions from slipping to a seven-wicket defeat to Australia A in the opening one-day match.
The Warwickshire opener starred in the first innings, making 105 from 137 balls after James Taylor had won the toss and chose to bat.
However, England's total of 259-6 was easily reached by the hosts, thanks mainly to an opening stand of 172 between Shaun Marsh and Aaron Finch.
Marsh recorded a century of his own before retreating to the dressing room with a knee injury he sustained while running a single.
Joe Burns and Tim Paine were left to finish the job with five balls to spare, giving Australia a 1-0 lead heading into the second game at the Bellerive Oval on Monday.
