Mumbai Indians have won their second match of this year's Indian Premier League thanks to a 44-run triumph over the Delhi Daredevils.
Despite winning the toss and electing to bat, Mumbai found themselves in trouble when openers Ricky Ponting (0) and Sachin Tendulkar (1) were both dismissed cheaply before the second over of the innings had been completed.
However, the hosts recovered thanks to a superb century partnership between Dinesh Karthik (86) and Rohit Sharma (74*) to post a total of 209-5 from their 20 overs.
Delhi opener David Warner attacked the Mumbai bowling unit in trademark fashion, scoring 61 from 37 balls before being dismissed by fellow Australian Mitchell Johnson.
Warner's departure seemed to end any realistic hopes of a victory for the Daredevils as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
The visitors eventually reached 165-9 to record their third successive defeat in the competition.
