Nottinghamshire Outlaws thrash Somerset Sabres by eight wickets in their YB40 last-four meeting at Trent Bridge to reach their first Lord's final in 22 years.

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have reached their first Lord's final in 22 years by hammering Somerset Sabres by eight wickets in the YB40 semi-final at Trent Bridge.

Harry Gurney's dismissal of ex-England opener Marcus Trescothick in the first over of the match set the tone for what would be a dismal batting display by Somerset, who collapsed to 119 all out.

All-rounder Peter Trego topscored with 40 before he became the first of two Sabres men to be caught and bowled by Stephen Mullaney, who recorded figures of 2-35 from his seven overs.

However, the star with the ball for the Outlaws was local 22-year-old seamer Jake Ball, who, after taking the wicket of James Hildreth earlier in the proceedings, returned to clean up the Somerset tail and finish with 4-25.

Despite losing Alex Hales for just five runs, Notts made short work of their modest target, with Michael Lumb blasting 46 from 38 balls at the top of the order.

Once the left-hander departed, Samit Patel hit eight boundaries in his quick-fire 43 not out and James Taylor made an unbeaten 20 as the hosts won the contest with 23.4 overs to spare.

They will face Glamorgan Dragons in the final at Lord's, which will take place on Saturday, September 21.
