The Perth Scorchers have produced a fine bowling display to stop the Melbourne Renegades from claiming their first win of the Big Bash League season.
The Renegades initially managed to contain the Scorchers to just 117-7, forcing them to endure a 14-over boundary dry spell with some full line deliveries.
Simon Katich started the visitors' innings well, but he was dismissed caught behind off the bowling of Tom Cooper just as he was finding his feet on 29.
Their other opener Shaun Marsh top-scored with 31 before no other batsman managed to score more than 16 as they fell below par.
Although Perth did not have much of a score to hold on to, a brilliant debut with the ball from Yasir Arafat managed to swing the game in his side's favour.
He managed 3-15 from his four overs with Alex Doolan's 21 from 15 balls the best the Renegades could muster on their way to 111-8 from their 20 overs.
