Sydney Sixers have beaten Melbourne Renegades by eight wickets in the Big Bash League.
The Renegades were restricted to just 154 from their 20 overs, before Nick Maddinson, Moises Henriques and Michael Lumb combined for a score of 158-2 for the home side.
Maddinson was the star as he hit 84 runs off 54 deliveries, and the Sixers batsman was delighted to get off to a winning start.
"It was good to spend some time out in the middle," he told Sky Sports News. "It was a refreshing start of the T20 format, so it was good to get the win under our belts early.
"There probably came a time when we needed to take a risk and luckily it came off today."
Victory was achieved with one-and-a-half overs left to spare for the Sydney outfit.
