An explosive innings from Aaron Finch was not enough to prevent the Melbourne Stars from extending their perfect start in Big Bash Three as the league leaders recorded a nine-wicket win over the Melbourne Renegades.
Finch hit six sixes, including a skied shot towards short fine leg that was declared a maximum after it hit the roof. He ended unbeaten on 84 from 55 balls after scoring 25 off Clint McKay in the 20th over.
Tom Cooper (60) also made a good contribution with the bat, but no other Renegades batsmen reached double figures, with Jos Buttler and Ben Rohrer both out lbw for ducks off the bowling of Jackson Bird.
The Renegades finished on 163-5 - a total that the Stars made light work of eclipsing.
England's Luke Wright fell to Aaron O'Brien on 17, but an unbeaten 94-run partnership between Cameron White and Glenn Maxwell led the Stars to an emphatic victory with 22 balls to spare.
White hit six fours and four sixes as he equalled Finch's score of 84, reaching the total in six fewer deliveries. Meanwhile, Maxwell's 28-ball 58 included two fours and six sixes.
