Geoffrey Boycott doubts that England will manage to scrape a draw in the first Test.

Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott has doubted England's chances of claiming a draw in the first Test with South Africa.

England are under pressure on 104-4, still 150 runs short of avoiding an innings defeat, with a full day to hang on to the remaining six wickets.

Boycott believes that it is unlikely that England will come out of the game with anything other than defeat, as the surface suits the Proteas bowlers.

"England need a backs to the wall display, which only happens once in a flood," the BBC quotes Boycott as saying.

"There are 90 overs due today and this is a good bowling surface."

Ravi Bopara and Ian Bell will resume the day on 15 and 14 runs respectively.
