All-rounder Jacques Kallis made history this afternoon by becoming the first South African to score 13,000 Test runs.
The 37-year-old achieved the feat on day one of his nation's first Test encounter against New Zealand in Cape Town - the city of his birth.
Kallis is only the fourth man ever to go beyond 13,000 runs. Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting and Rahul Dravid are the other players to have reached that total.
However, Kallis managed it in the shortest period of time (159 matches) and his average of 57 is the highest of the quartet.
