South Africa declare their second innings, setting Pakistan 480 runs to win the first Test match in Johannesburg.

South Africa have declared after a second innings of 275-3 to give themselves a lead of over 450 runs against Pakistan in the first Test.

The home side made 253 runs in their first innings, before sensationally bowling out Pakistan for 49 yesterday.

South Africa have increased their lead in the second innings, thanks to an unbeaten century from AB de Villiers and a half-century from captain Graham Smith. Hashim Amla also played a big part, scoring 74 not out.

Umar Gul took two wickets and Saeed Ajmal the other, but South Africa were able to make quick progress before declaring when they felt that their lead was big enough.

Pakistan now need 480 to win and have two-and-a-half days of play left to salvage anything from the match.
