South Africa set New Zealand a victory target of 209 runs during the one-day international between the two nations in Paarl this afternoon.
The hosts opened the batting but lost three of their most established batsmen early. Hashim Amla, skipper Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers only managed to make 27 runs between them.
Their innings was saved by Francois du Plessis, who scored 57 runs from 72 deliveries before he was caught by Rob Nicol.
A late contribution of 26 from tail-ender Rory Kleinveldt took South Africa over the 200-mark.
However, when he was caught by Kyle Mills, the Proteas were all out for 208 from 46.2 overs.
South Africa are currently ranked the best ODI side in the world.
