Australia have managed to find the breakthrough following a frustrating morning by taking the wicket of Kyle Abbott, leaving South Africa on 122-5 at lunch.
AB de Villiers and Abbott returned to the crease this morning on 71-4 following a positive day for Australia, who ended day four needing six wickets to clinch the series.
The Proteas faced an uphill task, but De Villiers and Abbott's slow progress continued to frustrate the Aussie bowlers until James Pattinson bowled out Abbott, who took seven runs from 89 balls during the second innings.
Faf du Plessis joined the attack and managed to calm Australia's momentum by ending the morning session on 14, while De Villiers remains unbeaten on 39.
South Africa need 389 runs with five wickets remaining in order to win.
