South Africa reach the end of the second session on 118-1 having bowled out India for 280 earlier in the day.

South Africa are in command of the first Test match against India at tea, finishing the second session of the second day at Johannesburg on 118-1.

In the morning session, the Proteas dismantled the Indian lower order, rattling the final five wickets for just 25 runs as the visitors' first innings ended on 280.

The home captain Graeme Smith looked comfortable from the off, as he started picking up singles and boundaries from the second over, although Alviro Petersen looked slightly less solid against the Indian pace attack.

Indeed, Petersen's brief innings came to an end on 21 as he was caught LBW by Ishant Sharma. That was to be the only inroad that India were to make into the Proteas top order.

Smith's confidence continued to increase as he reached his half-century, with him and Hashim Amla seeing out the rest of the session unbeaten.

The captain will resume on 62 and Amla on 30 when the final session gets underway.
