South Africa trail Pakistan by 199 runs in their first innings on day two of the second Test in Cape Town.

South Africa have reached 139-5 on stumps of day two of the second Test against Pakistan following an early-innings wobble.

The hosts, who bowled their opponents all out for 338 before lunch, struggled in the second session by losing two wickets by tea, leaving Pakistan, who are currently 1-0 down in the series, with a good advantage following their opening innings.

Hashim Amla (25) was the first to fall after the break courtesy of a bowl from Saeed Ajmal, but Faf du Plessis managed to up the Proteas' run-rate until getting dismissed for 28.

Prior to that, Jacques Kallis's time at the crease was restricted to just two runs, leaving AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar the responsibility of launching a comeback for South Africa.

De Villiers (24) and Elgar (11) had a positive stint at the crease for the final few overs of the day, which ended with the Proteas trailing Pakistan by 199 runs.
