South Africa continue their stubborn battle to draw the fourth Test against India in Delhi.

South Africa have continued their stubborn approach as they try to draw the fourth Test against India in Delhi.

The Proteas began day five of the contest on 72-2, with Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers at the crease.

By tea, the tourists battled to 136 runs, losing a further three wickets, including Amla, Faf du Plessis and Jean-Paul Duminy.

Amla was the first to go on day five as Ravindra Jadeja bowled out the batsman for 25, breaking up a stand of 27 runs off 253 balls between the 32-year-old and De Villiers.

South Africa continued to plod along and frustrate their opponents, but Jadeja managed to end another partnership as Du Plessis, who hit a combined 35 runs off 211 balls with De Villiers, was trapped lbw.

Ravichandran Ashwin tried to give India some momentum by picking off Duminy for a duck, but the tourists were able to stick to their approach, which resulted in the slowest run rate in stands of over 200 balls.

De Villiers, who is unbeaten on 43 runs off 296 deliveries, and Dane Vilas (13*) will return to the crease for the final session of the day.
